JP was raised in Texas, where he began his dance career at the Vidal M. Treviño Fine Arts School. In the summer of 2010, he attended the Ailey School in NYC, and after two years he graduated upon his successful completion of the program. Additionally, during his first two summers in New York, he trained with Complexions Contemporary Ballet during their summer programs. In the Summer 2011 & 2012, he taught a series of master classes and choreography in Laredo and Austin to both Nudo Piedi Contemporary Dance Company and Ballet East Dance Company. Since then he has created over 13 original works. He’s had the pleasure of working with Nimbus Dance Works, Valleto Dance Company, Awaken Dance Theater, Keen Dance Theater, Dakshina Dance Company, Daniel Flores Dance, ModArts Dance Company, and Calpulli Mexican Dance Company. JP was part of the entertainment for the Frida Khalo Exhibition at the New York Botanical Garden this year, where he danced and got to portray Frida by modeling a dress made by famous Mexican Artist Humberto Spindola. Most recently, his work, “Por los mojados,” received the award for “Outstanding Dance Choreography” by the B. Iden Payne Awards Council.
